Who is Bennelong Group?
The Bennelong Group is a privately owned funds management and private equity business founded by Jeff Chapman and the Chapman family in 2000.
The Group was established with the proceeds from the sale of Sportsworld Media Group, the sports marketing, television production and distribution company that Jeff started in 1991. Through the 1990s, Sportsworld grew into an international business that developed specialty sports programs for distribution to television networks around the world. A part of the original Sportsworld business is still a thriving component of Bennelong’s current investment portfolio.
The Group is named after the Aborigine Woollarawarre Bennelong whose story epitomises the qualities that the Bennelong Group believe are important for a successful business to thrive, whilst supporting the community in which it exists.
Philanthropic objectives
A core part of the Group’s value proposition is its philanthropic arm, the Bennelong Foundation. The Foundation was founded in 2002 to allow its founders to support charities and worthy causes in selected areas of interest, and to provide opportunities for people within the Bennelong Group to participate on an individual or group basis.
